A PZT liquid pump made of the piezoelectric ceramic with low power and high flow rate

Abstract
Piezoelectricpumps possessmany advantages such as quiet operation, quick response, simple structure,andnonelectromagnetic radiation. This paper presents a PZT( Lead zirconate titanate ) liquid pump with low power, high flow rate, small size, andlight weight. Theliquid pumpis composed of the piezoelectric ceramic,elastomer valve, and PET (Polyethylene terephthalate ) pump body. The power consumption,flow rate, body size and weight of the pump are 1 W, 800± 5% ml min-1, 50 × 50 × 10 mm., and 50 g, respectively. Additionly,the pump works at an exciting voltage of 50Hz, 40 V. According to the applied voltage or frequency to a PZT pump, the flow rate of thefluid is able to be controled. Besides, theliquid pump issuitable for various fluids such as water, alcohol, soda, hydrochloric acid, etc.

A power supply consists of the DC-DC boost converter and a full-bridge inverter circuits for a PZT liquid pump

Abstract
Nowadays, most of the driving powers ofPZT (lead zirconate titanate ) pumps are large, lessefficient, and high power consumption.This paper presents a new type ofadriving power supply composed of thestep-up inverter fora PZT liquid pump. In order to provideasquare waveof±40V and 50 Hz for a PZT liquid pump, this designused the MC34063 and NE555 integrated circuits torespectively fabricatea DC-DC boost circuit as well asa full-bridge inverter circuit.The performance of the driving power supply is verified bythetheoretical statement and practical test. Besides, theliquid pumpis composed ofa PZT,elastomer pump valve, and PET (Polyethylene terephthalate ) pump body, while the power,flow rate, body size and weight of the pump are 1 W, 800± 5% ml min-1, 50 × 50 × 10 mm., 50 gw, respectively. Furthermore, the PZTliquid pump issuitable for various fluids such as water, soda, alcohol, etc.
